Honky brings a raw blend of classic rock swagger and punk edge, formed in 1996 by Jeff Pinkus, known for his long run as bassist with the Butthole Surfers. After leaving that band in 1994, Pinkus teamed up with guitarist Carson Vester and drummer Lance Farley to create a power trio with a natural vibe. Based in Austin, Texas, Honky quickly made a name playing local clubs. Their first release was the 1997 EP Ten Inches on Man's Ruin Records, followed later that year by their self-titled debut album on Pinkus’ Honest Abe label.
